I was on the fence about participating in Advent of Code[^aoc] again this
year, and then I heard about [December
Adventure](https://eli.li/december-adventure):

> The December Adventure is **low key**. The goal is to write a little bit
> of code every day in December.

Having recently started a new job, this sounds perfect.

I decided to follow up on my [recent experiments with PostScript]({{< ref
"/posts/postscript-graph-paper/index.md" >}}) and write some
[uxntal](https://wiki.xxiivv.com/site/uxntal.html). I was playing with uxn
over a year ago with the intention of writing a game to help me learn Morse
Code, and I'd like to get back to it.

Tonight I spent most of my time fussing with my programming environment (I'm
trying out [left](https://100r.co/site/left.html) for the first time) and
setting up [my
repository](https://git.eamoncaddigan.net/december_adventure_2023/log.html).

[^aoc]: I completed all 50 stars in 2021's calendar while on parental leave
 ([code
 here](https://git.eamoncaddigan.net/advent_of_code_2021/file/README.md.html)),
and got 42 last year ([some code
 here](https://git.eamoncaddigan.net/advent_of_code_2022/file/README.md.html)).
